Anna Mae Tyler-Hightower

April 27, 1942 - January 28, 2021

Anna Mae Tyler-Hightower, 78, passed away unexpectedly on January 28th at Crouse Irving Hospital. She was born on April 27, 1942 in Columbia, SC to the union of Edmond and Amy Hightower. She attended Syracuse City Schools and was formerly employed at Syracuse University as a cook for over 25 years before retiring. She then went on to become a foster grandparent where she volunteered at Merrick Headstart Program. Anna Mae attended Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. She loved and had a passion for cooking and baking, as well as spending time with her family and friends. She will truly be missed by all who knew her. Anna Mae is predeceased by her longtime companion, David Tigner; son, Levoy Tyler; granddaughter, Angelina Slaughter; parents, Edmond and Amy Hightower; sisters, Maryann Hightower and Betty Temple; and brother, Edmond Hightower. She is survived by her daughters, Terryann, Angela, and Victoria Hightower, of Syracuse; sons, Richard (Bertha) Tyler, William (Constance) Tyler, and Darren Hightower, all of Syracuse; sister, Celia (Mario) Davis; brother, Willie (Vera) Hightower; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A calling hour will be held on Friday, February 5th from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Belle Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 219 Dr. M.L.K. W, Syracuse. A service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
