Egidio "Gino" Fabrizi

March 16, 1938 - February 1, 2021

Egidio “Gino” Fabrizi, 82, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Monday at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Torrice, Italy in 1938 to Enrico and Adelina Fabrizi. In 1956 he left his homeland, traveled to America and was determined to succeed. Gino took pride in his family values. What he most enjoyed was the family dinners. He was so happy when everyone was gathered around the table telling stories, laughing or arguing over politics. He loved making wine and sharing his knowledge with his children and grandchildren. Gino spent hours working and caring for his vegetable garden and fruit trees. Gino would often share his life’s experiences and could always be relied upon to teach others and help those in need. Gino was a friend, teacher, and mentor to many. His proudest accomplishments was being a father and grandfather. Gino learned the trade of meat cutting. He worked as a meat manager for Wegmans Food Markets where he proudly served for 34 years before retiring in 2002. He continued to utilize his meat cutting skills to teach others in several meat markets throughout the Syracuse area. He was most recently employed by Spera’s. He was on the Board of Directors for Festa Italiana, and was also the commissioner of the annual bocce tournament. In addition, Gino served as President of the Onondaga Lake Bocce League. He was a member of the Italian American Heritage club. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Ruth (Iannuzzo) Fabrizi; son, Enrico (Rene’) Fabrizi; daughter, Marisa (John) Brady; beloved grandchildren, Luciano, Antonio, and Jillian; twin brother, Alberto (Sadie) Fabrizi; brothers-in-law, Richard (Betty) Iannuzzo and James (Kathy) Iannuzzo; sisters-in-law, Tina Bishara and Mary Allyn; along with several nieces, Adele, Theresa, Marie,Traci, and Sabrina. Nephews Rick, Jeff, Charlie, Raymond, Frankie, Jimmy, Jason, Joey, and Vincent. A funeral mass to honor Gino’s life will be held on Friday, February 5th, at 12 p.m. at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 5th, prior to the funeral mass from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the church, 301 Ash Street. For those who would like to attend the funeral services remotely, please visit the Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Facebook page at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Ginos name to the Upstate Hospital Cancer center or Our Lady of Pompei Church.
