Elizabeth C. Butler, 88, of Syracuse, passed away at Upstate University Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Montreal, Quebec, she moved to Syracuse in 1974. Elizabeth graduated from Dawson College in Montreal and CCBI in Syracuse, NY. Mrs. Butler worked in the Syracuse City School District before retiring from Niagara Mohawk. She enjoyed playing the piano, traveling, sewing, spending time with family especially her grandchildren who were her pride and joy. An avid foodie, Elizabeth enjoyed a good meal. She was predeceased by her husband, Lee R. Butler; her father, Clarence; her mother, Sarah Daisy; and brothers, Edson and Joseph Ford. Survivors include her children, Leroy (Holly) Butler, Eva Butler, and Gary (Lisa) Butler; siblings, Asline Johnson and Alfred Ford; grandchildren, Gregory, Renee, Catherine, Anil, and Nolan; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 17th, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Hopps Memorial CME Church, 1110 S. State Street, Syracuse.
