Grace Liccione Cruty

April 25, 1951 - December 20, 2021

On December 20, 2021, Grace L. Cruty, loving wife to John Cruty for over 41 years, and the devoted mother to Amanda Cruty, passed away unexpectantly at home at the age of 70. Grace was born in Syracuse N.Y., graduated from both Our Lady of Pompeii and Cathedral High School after attending St. John Evangelist for 3 years before it closed. Grace also graduated from SUNY at Oswego, with a B.A. in Social Work, including post graduate study. She was a Senior Case Worker for Onondaga County Social Services in both the Adult and Child Protective Units for over 35 years and humbly received formal recognitions for providing exceptional service. Grace’s large heart, empathy toward others and dedication of providing services to those in need, profoundly impacted the lives of hundreds of clients and their families. You always knew people were well provided for if “Grace was on the case!” Grace was a long-time parishioner at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, served as a Eucharistic Minister and ministering to Shut-Ins, and the Social Committee including the Sunday Socials. Besides the unconditional love and joy she gave and received while practicing her faith, Grace’s constant exuberance and boundless energy, generosity, love and devotion caring for others, (including animals like Rosie, Lily and Luna), were the foundation and “pillars” of her life. You could not help but smile, laugh and love when the name Grace was mentioned. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Domenico and Mariangela Barbuto, Anthony & Grace Liccione; her parents, Americus (Mark) and Rachel (Barbuto) Liccione; and her nephew, Mark Anthony Liccione; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Besides her beloved husband, John and treasured daughter Amanda, surviving Grace is her sister, Mary Liccione; her brother, Tony (Lisa) Liccione; her sister, Betty Liccione (Bob Lucy); her brother, Domenic Liccione (Amy); her brother-in-law, Joseph (Sandy) Cruty in Florida; and aunt, Helen Liccione in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is also survived by several treasured nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will greet friends and family from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, December 27th at the Farone & Son Funeral Home at 4899 W. Taft Road, Liverpool, NY 13088. On Tuesday, December 28th, there will be a brief viewing and prayer service at the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. followed by a funeral procession to the Cathedral at the Immaculate Conception, 259 East Onondaga Street in Syracuse, whereby a Mass will be celebrated starting at 9:30 a.m., followed by a graveside service at Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to either Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave, Syracuse, N.Y. 13208 or Cathedral Ministries (Amaus Clinic) 259 East Onondaga Street in Syracuse, N.Y. 13202.
