Peter Thomas Swanson

January 1, 1949 - March 28, 2022

Peter Thomas Swanson, 73, of Syracuse, passed away on March 28th at home. Peter is a proud Vietnam Veteran with the US Navy serving aboard the USS Newport News (CA-148) as an Ordinance Technician. He recently retired from the Onondaga County Sherriff’s Office as a Community Service Officer. He had a passion for riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle with friends and other veterans. Peter enjoyed visiting local diners and meeting new people. He loved his children throughout his journey. Peter was predeceased by his parents, Russell and Mary (Walker) Swanson; and sister, Kris Reid. Survivors include his children, Erik, Jason, and Nicole Swanson; grandchildren, Vincent, Joseph, Collette, and Jason; brother-in-law, Robert Reid; and niece, Sarah Reid. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 6th, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at FARONE & SON Inc Funeral Home, 1500 Park Street, Syracuse. A funeral service will follow at 6:30 p.m. Peter will be laid to rest with full military honors on Thursday, April 7th, 9 a.m. at Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
