Rosalie (Adornato) Priola Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Rosalie (Adornato) Priola, 103, of Westvale, passed peacefully to meet our Lord on June 2, 2022. Predeceased by her husband, Joseph M. Priola; and her parents, Antonio, and Maria Concetta (Calla) Adornato. Rosalie was a lifelong resident of Syracuse growing up in the shadow of the old train station. Rosalie spoke fondly of her childhood and youth. She dedicated much of her life, along with her brothers and sisters, to the care of her parents. Rosalie was a communicant of St. Peters Church in Syracuse and St. Charles Borromeo Church in Westvale. She graduated from North High School in 1937 where she excelled academically and was actively involved in the library club. Rosalie was a member of the USO during World War II. After the war, Rosalie met the love of her life, Joseph, and spent seventy-two years in wedded bliss. Rosalie was a very talented and intelligent woman who after the war worked in the Chimes building as an Office Manager for the Army Corp of Engineers. Her greatest talents were saved for her family as Rosalie was the quintessential home maker. Raising her family with a love that is second to none, her cooking, deserts, macaroni and meatballs are legendary. Rosalie was also the family historian whose mind and memory up to the end was beyond comparison. Everyone in our extended family would consult Rosalie on stories long forgotten. Rosalie’s strength, determination and kindness is only overshadowed by her modesty. Affectionately called Grandma RoRo, she was always there for her family, bandaging an injured knee, mentoring with sound advice, and packing for picnics, camp, and fishing trips. Her love will remain in our hearts for eternity. Rosalie is survived by her daughters, Maryanne M. Priola, Joni E. (Kevin) Fuess; son, Joseph J. (Theresa) Priola; grandchildren, Dr. Joey (Amanda) Priola, Jenna Priola, Nicholas Fuess, Meghan Fuess, Adam (Catie) Fuess, Evan Fuess, Preston Fuess; and many loving nieces and nephews. Rosalie’s family extends gratitude and thanks to Dr. Daniel Fuleihan, who cared for her and Joseph. Also, a very special thank you to Francis House. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 7th, 10 a.m. at St. Charles-St. Ann’s Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, June 7th, prior to the funeral mass, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rosalie’s name to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Francis House of Syracuse.
